Machu Picchu, Peru
Hello! Here we are at Machu Picchu. We made it!! The Lares trek took us to the bottom of a mountain, from where we caught a taxi bus to a little town called Ollyantatambo. We said good-bye to our guide here, and then caught the train to Aguas Calientes, which is the town based at the bottom of Machu Picchu mountain. We slept like babies on the way up though, exhausted from the trek. We arrived at Aguas Calientes quite late and were met and shown to our guesthouse. We had a long awaited shower, fell into a coma, and then were awakened bright and early (5am) the next day to get the first bus to Machu Picchu. It was raining, and Vanessa got lost on the way to the bus, which caused quite a comotion, but finally we arrived! The history of the Inca people and the construction of Machu Picchu is very interesting, and finally getting to see it was unbelievable. Enjoy the pics!!
